Nyack High School Class of '55

Sandra Hill Choudry

Sandra Hill Choudry

Sandra Hill Choudry, age 85, died peacefully on November 9, 2022, while under loving care at the Generations Assisted Living facility in Rathdrum, Idaho. Sandra was born in New York City on February 21, 1937, and grew up initially on Long Island, and later in Rockland Co., New York. Sandra graduated from Nyack High School and traveled around the world before joining the Little Sisters of the Assumption in Pennsylvania as a novice. She found that Catholic sisterhood was not her calling and went on to work in NYC as an employment agent. Her sole marriage, to Munir Choudry who immigrated from his native Pakistan, ended in divorce. They had one child, daughter Chiara Choudry in 1967. In 1997, she moved to California and began work for her brother Bill’s company, Sentry Alarm Systems, in Monterey. She worked in the sales department until retiring in 2016. Health issues led to her selling her house in Salinas and moving into assisted living facilities, first in California, and later in Idaho, where she could be near her daughter and grandchildren. She loved it there. Sandra was a joyous busy bee who cherished life dearly—her life was marked with her passion and love for travel, history, and the stories and lives of others. She is survived by her daughter, Chiara Whitfield, four grandchildren, and bothers David and Bill. Mass was held for Sandra on December 1st at 8:30 A.M. at Saint Angela Medici Church on 9th and Lighthouse in Pacific Grove.
