Gerald M. "Jerry" Post, Green Valley, AZ

Gerald M. Post, "Jerry", a 12 year resident of Quail Creek, Green Valley, AZ died at home on Friday, July 18, 2014. He was born in Palisades, NY on July 1, 1937. Jerry was the son of Chester and Marian Post and brother of Richard. The Post family had lived in Palisades for many years and were active members in the Palisades Presbyterian Church (Jerry joined his father and brother in singing in the church choir).

He is survived by Ginny, his wife of 32 years and sister-in-law Carol and husband Phil as well as cousins and godchildren. Prior to moving to AZ, Jerry and Ginny had resided in Warwick, NY in Orange County as well as in Rockland County, N.Y.

Jerry served in the Army ASU SIG C from '56-'58 and was stationed in Germany. While living in Warwick, Jerry continued his love of singing as he joined the Warwick Chorale, this Chorale even performed at Carnegie Hall, NYC. He was elected in 1988 into the Warwick Lions Club and he actively participated in the club's community projects- especially in the establishment of the Lions Quest Program into the Warwick School District. Jerry served two years as club president and was awarded the club president excellence award in 95-96 and 96-97 by the International Association of Lions Clubs. He was also the recipient of the Robert J. Uplinger Distinquished Service Award.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 4-7pm at Hannemann Funeral Home, Nyack, N.Y. Burial will be on Thursday, July 24 at 10 am at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, N.Y. followed by a memorial service at 11 am at Palisades Presbyterian Church, Washington Spring Road, Palisades, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to Lions Quest International Foundation, 300 W. 22nd Street, Oak Brook, IL 60523-8842 (www.lions-quest.org) or to Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Ave, Suite 1802, New York, N.Y. 10001.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held in Green Valley, AZ at a later date.
