MCGOVERN, FRANCIS J. Francis J. McGovern of Pearl
River, a retired Lieutenant of the Orangetown Police Department
died Thursday, February 7, 2002 at Nyack Hospital. He was 65. Mr.
McGovern worked as a Lieutenant for the Orangetown Police Dept.
for 37 years, retiring in 1999. Mr. McGovern was born December 25,
1936 in Nyack, NY to Thomas and Loretta McGovern. He was educated
in Nyack and graduated from Nyack High School in 1955. He received
his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Mercy College. Francis
served in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1961 attaining
the rank of private. He is survived by his wife Dale McGovern of
Pearl River, his daughters Laurie and son-in-law Christopher O'Connell
of Pearl River and Michele and son-in-law Stephen Jochum of Suffern,
son Robert McGovern of Pearl River, along with three loving grandchildren
Michael, Lindsey and Jake. He is also survived by his siblings Patricia
Werner of Pearl River and Matthew McGovern of Congers. He is predeceased
by his loving parents Thomas and Loretta McGovern and a brother
Thomas McGovern.
Visiting will be held Saturday 7-9 and Sunday 3-5 and 7-9 pm
at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held Monday 10 am at St. Margaret's R.C. Church. Burial
to follow at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Blauvelt, NY. Friends may
send memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
