William F. Bacon III, 77, of Bonita Springs, Florida, formerly of New City, NY, passed away on February 11, 2015.
He was born July 4, 1937 in Nyack, NY. William was the son of the late William Fay Bacon II, former Mayor of Nyack, and Anna Armstrong Bacon. He is predeceased by his loving wife of forty years, Patricia A. Kallmeyer. William and Patricia moved to Bonita Springs in 1992 after retiring.
Surviving members of his family are children: Diane E. Rizzo and husband, Donald of Cortlandt Manor, NY, William F. Bacon IV and wife, Holly of Pine Bush, NY and Robert C. Bacon and wife, Kathleen of New City; Mary Lou Eichert, both friend and companion of Naples FL. William, also known as Buddy, was the loving grandfather of seven grandchildren: Donald James Rizzo, Craig W. Rizzo, Anna R. Rizzo, William F. Bacon V, Kyle J. Bacon, Luke R. Bacon and Jack R. Bacon.
William was a graduate of Nyack High School, class of 1955, and SUNY Oswego, class of 1959. He was a retired Guidance Counselor from North Rockland High School where he also served as an Industrial Arts Teacher and President of the School Counselors of Rockland County. William was honoraraly discharged as Sergeant in NYS Army National Guard. He was a 50 year member of the New City Fire Engine Company #1 where he served as President, Trustee, Commissioner, and Treasurer of the Board of Fire Commissioners. He was a member and officer of BPOE of Bonita Springs/Estero Lodge 2753.
A wake will be held at Hannemans Funeral Home in Nyack, NY, on Wednesday, February 18th. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Firematic service will take place at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 19th at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, New City, with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack.
